It’s been a while since I’ve done this… but let’s ignore that. I was reading some fanfics earlier and I enjoyed this particular one shot: it’s called Experimentation.
Summary: Sherlock explains to John that he doesn’t perfectly fit the model of a sociopath. Sociopaths don’t find themselves sexually attracted to others - especially their flatmate.

I really enjoyed this little one shot (and there’s a possibility of there being more…) because it involved psychology. That’s always fascinated me and it’s a really interesting read, with lots of lovely Sherlock/John moments. It’s also really in character too and… well this review hasn’t been spectacular, has it? Oh dear. All I can say is please just read it! Go, go, go!

I haven’t done this in a while but saw somebody recommending this particular fic on Twitter and just had to share it. It’s a short story called Kid In A Candy Store.
It’ll probably only take you five minutes to read but it is so worth it. In the fic, Sherlock and John visit a sex shop (that was enough to make me want to read it) and it’s just so brilliantly brilliant.
It’s completely in character, and I found myself actually believing that this could somehow happen in the show. There’s nothing extremely explicit going on - the age recommendation on the fic is 14 - but it’s so well written and funny that it’s worth a read, regardless of this.

Summary: Sherlock convinces John to come to a gay bar with him to get information for a murder case. When Sherlock begins getting a bit too friendly with one possible witness, John intervenes.

This is a lovely little one-shot that will cheer you up and/or take your mind off… well, you know. The episode. It made me chuckle and grin and fan-girl when I read it, and there’s many reasons why. Plus, jealous John is always worth your time.
Firstly, the writing is wonderful. It’s flows brilliantly and presents some fantastic imagery. Sherlock and John are incredibly well written. As well as this, the little twist at the end is just (I’m running out of adjectives here!) simply excellent. There’s not really much else I can say apart from read it now if you’re a fan of Sherlock/John. It’ll definitely make you smile in less than five minutes.

So I thought I’d start recommending some of my favourite Sherlock fanfics every week so that you can hopefully enjoy them as much as I have been. This week it’s Academic Eros.
Summary: It’s John’s last year doing theory at university before he starts training in a hospital. But to get there, he first has to pass the infamous Dr Sherlock Holmes’ Biochemistry paper…

You’ve probably already heard about this story, purely because it is so fantastic. As soon as I started reading this, I was hooked. The writing is just brilliant; it flows effortlessly and draws you in with its vivid, detailed descriptions. These characters are wonderful and I found myself immediately caring for them, John in particular. The writer has a way of really hooking you.
It’s not just about sex as you’d expect with this type of story; there is a plot. There are many fantastic twists and turns along the way, and believe me I just want it to go on forever.
It’s fascinating, clever, enticing, and more. Seeing John and Sherlock’s relationship develop, as well as the consequences of what they’re doing, is so unbelievably gripping. I really can’t recommend this story enough; please read it now because you seriously won’t regret it.
